The Anonymous User

An anonymous user is one who has not logged in, but has access to browse your product catalog of standard products and configurators and create quotes.

Understanding Anonymous Users

If one or more of your configurators are for general use by the public, you may want visitors from the web to be able to use it quickly with minimal friction.

Specifically, you may want them to be able to launch the configurator without having to register and identify themselves first.  By allowing anonymous users, you can enable this functionality.  The user must still eventually log in or register, but that process is deferred until they express deeper interest in your products: until they save their configuration or submit their quote.

If none of your configurators are for general use – they are only used by employees, suppliers, or other known business partners – then leave this feature turned off.

Anonymous users' permissions are not editable, and limited to only access to view products and add them to unsubmitted quotes. Within the quotes page, they only have access to the quote's name and description.  This small set of permissions cannot be changed.

Setting up Anonymous Users

To activate this feature, check the "Allow Anonymous Users in Production Environment" in the company settings. When an anonymous user attempts to save their configurator or submit a quote, they lose their anonymous status; they will be prompted to either log in or register (if users are allowed to register themselves in Epicor CPQ).
