Products

The Products screen lists both configured and standard products for customers to buy.

Epicor CPQ manages two types of products: Standard Products and Configured Products.

• Standard Products
  are stock, off-the-shelf items, such as spare parts or add-ons.  They are simply added to a quote by specifying the quantity.  There is nothing to configure when buying this product.
  
• Configured Products
  are configured by you before you add them to the quote.  You can edit aspects of the product so it meets your needs: these are the custom, bespoke products that are built and assembled exactly to your specifications.

Both of these types of products appear to your end users together in one list: the Products tab. As they view this list, either the Add or Configure button appears next to any product they want to add to your quote or "shopping cart". Standard products are added, configured products are configured.

• If you are adding a standard product,
  clicking Add takes you to your quote, where you can see this product has been added. Here in the quote you can add more products or submit your quote for purchase.
• If you are adding a configured product,
  clicking Configure takes you to a configurator, where you can select the best product options.  As you make your selections, you can click Save to save your work but leave the configurator on-screen.  When you're happy with your selections, click Save to Quote to save your work and go to the quote, where you can see this configured product has been added.

Some things to remember:

• Products can belong to certain categories, which are displayed in a tree structure on the left side.  If you don't see the product you want, look for any categories on the left that might store it.
• Depending on your permissions, you may see only see some of the categories in the catalog.
• If a category has many products, you can use the faceted search tools button to filter the items.  For example, you may want to see only items with a certain type, power, or feature, as shown here.
