The Quotes and Workflows section contains all the settings which define how quotes look, behave, and progress through workflows.
Overview
A quote helps people and processes complete the sale. Here's how.
- First, when your customer submits their configured product, a quote is created to contain that product. Your user sees this quote as a "shopping cart" in the corner of the screen. They can add more products, update quantities, or specify other custom information you define as necessary. All this functionality is defined in a quote header. The quote header is itself a fully-featured configurator, so you can use Snap rules to apply discounts, look up customer-specific pricing, query a supplier for shipping costs, etc.
- Your customer may also add other products to that same quote (or shopping cart).
- When that quote is submitted, the workflow selector uses your business logic to determine which workflow will process the quote, and the quote is placed into that workflow's first state.
- The quote proceeds through the workflow's states. The workflow can branch or loop as necessary to follow your business rules.
- Depending on your notification settings, your teams can be alerted when a quote enters a workflow state they are responsible for.
- At certain stages in that workflow, users must complete work related to the quote. They can approve the quote, reject it, or perform other custom actions you design.
- At other stages in that workflow, output documents can be automatically created and attached. Each of these outputs is tagged, ensuring that only the right documents are seen by the right people.
- Email messages can be sent at any stage, to inform users of work they need to perform, or to tell them the workflow is finished and their quote is ready for them.
